Holistic Morning routine | 2018

If you read my first blog post you know that I'm all about living holistically, so I thought I would share with you my current morning rituals to start my day off right. You may have seen a few of these if you watch my Instagram stories ! For me the mornings are a time for myself; I practice most of my self care rituals in the mornings, plan out my day, my week, maybe next month; I journal, I just take time out for me.

The first thing I like to do when I wake up is boil the kettle and make myself a hot cleansing drink; at the moment I have been loving my Cleanse tea . Other days I will have a hot lemon and ginger water. I am currently waking up at 5 am everyday, mainly to get my body use to this early rise for when I go into uni three times a week; but also so I have a more productive day and can do creative things that I love ( like writing this blog post ) in the morning with no distractions or interruptions !

Whilst drinking my tea I will read my horoscope for the day; currently reading from the Astro Twins writings which I find to be pretty accurate ! If you're not into astrology thats fine, but starting your day with some positive words and good vibrations is always nice. You could also read tarot cards, read a self growth / motivational book, or just listen to an uplifting podcast. My hot beverage drinking usually lasts around half an hour - unless I’m writing a blog post or drawing and want to spend more time working on those.

After this I come out into my lounge room, light all of the candles plus some incense and head to my yoga mat. I also like to use a roll on essential oil for on my wrists and on  my neck. Practicing yoga daily is something I have recently incorporated back into my routine and although I feel a little rusty I am determined to continue practicing until I feel confident in my abilities. Yoga is something that makes you feel so amazing and connected to your body, mind and your breath; if you haven't tried it I would highly recommend you do. Most days I intuitively flow, but sometimes I'll head to a class or watch one online. After about twenty minutes of yoga; sometimes more, but no less, I like to sit down with a crystal and meditate. I meditate for ten minutes daily and find that this really helps with stress and anxiety levels, becoming more mindful, and again just starting your day on a positive notes with high vibrations.

Once my meditation is finished I slowly make my way up from the couch to my coffee machine. There may be some of you thinking that coffee should not be part of a holistic routine, however holism means looking after and thinking of your entire being; and making coffee in the morning is something that makes me happy. I don't need coffee in order to feel awake, I don't need it to prevent getting a caffeine headache ( from lack of ); I just love the ritual of making coffee, the smell of it, the taste of it, and how it makes me feel. Now that I’ve got my coffee I’ll sit down with my bullet journal and see what I have planned for the day. At this time I also like to write in my gratitude log, and raise my vibrations by listening to a law of attraction podcast or YouTube video. Being grateful for what you already have and raising your vibration are things that I practice in order to help me manifest what I want in this life. I like to read over my current goals for the year as well, so that while I go through my day the decisions I make are going to help me towards what I want rather than push me away. It’s about being conscious and mindful of the choices you make and of the actions you take; if you mindlessly wander about through life you cant expect to receive the things you want or achieve your goals. So instead know what it is you have to do in order to get these things, and do it !

Once I’m finished in my bullet journal I make my partner and I some oats; usually with some nut butter, banana, cinnamon, and chia seeds. We eat breakfast together and talk about our plans for the day. After this he heads off to work and I clean up the kitchen and do a quick check to make sure the house is clean and tidy. Now I like to get ready for my day; take a shower, brush my teeth, do my hair and makeup and find a cute outfit. Even though I am a student and currently haven't even started my on campus classes, I still like to put myself together. Dong this makes you feel like you have important work to do, makes it easier ( for me anyway ) to run errands as soon as you need to and if you have any unexpected visitors you don't need to do anything ! Getting yourself ready also just makes you feel good; you don't have to do a full face of makeup - even just brushing through your eyebrows and putting some coconut oil on to make you look glowy is fine; as long as you feel good ! While getting ready for my day I like to listen to those law of attraction podcasts or watch an inspiring YouTube video: my favourite YouTubers at the moment are Kalyn Nicholson, Sam Ozkural, Muchelle B, and Rachel Aust.

Once I’m all ready I will fill up my litre water bottle to take with me in whatever I’m doing that day and begin ! This routine takes about two hours, however at the moment while I have no deadlines or specific time to be working it can stretch out for as long as four hours ( until 9am ). When I go to uni I can only do the bare minimum of this, as I have to leave the house at 6:20 to be there at 8. I’ll do a yoga flow, meditate, make breakfast for when I’m there, make coffee for on the train, check my uni schedule, pack lunch and get myself ready.

Hopefully you enjoyed reading about my morning rituals and if you wish incorporate some of them into your own routine. Just know that the things you do in the morning will generally set the tone of that day; do you want this to be negative, rushed and feeling stressed and late ? Or have a feeling of positivity when you leave the house because you took care of yourself and did things that promote self love and manifestations? It’s up to you !

Kindest,

Sarah
